Okay then! Thought I'd try this blogging thing again after a long absence... It is NOT as easy or "user friendly" on here as it was on Live Spaces, but will give it another try. I already thought I'd written a new blog earlier today, but it disappeared on me! So, it looks like Google has a long way to go to make this program work efficiently...
So much has happened over the past 18 months that it's hard to know where to start! The REALLY GOOD NEWS is that I am currently employed!!! Yay! Got a great job working at our local smoke shop with guys I really enjoy! It also allowed me to finally convince Chase to modify my mortgage down to a place I can afford!! Triple Yay! Looks good that I'll be able to live out my life here at Heart Song!
Meanwhile, the outdoor critter-kids are all doing well; at least the ones who are still alive! Unfortunately there are only 5 of the feral kids left out of the 30 originals in the group, but that still means a lot to me because the average lifespan of an unprotected feral kitty is (we believe) less than 2 years; these kids have lived here for at least 5 years now! They still do not trust humans much, but have at least learned that I will not harm them and that they have their very own little house for safety (a 10' X 12' shed that I had built for them just prior to their arrival here). I've also transferred all of their food into the shed since the bear problem I had a couple of years ago (a huge black bear destroyed their feeding station twice!). So far it seems to serve them well.
I've had some additional space created at the front of my home by getting the large front deck enclosed. My goal was two-fold; first to expand the living area for me and my 4 indoor kids, and second to help keep the front of the house (facing West) from getting so hot in the "normal" summer months... Well, THAT has NOT been an issue since the enclosure was completed late last summer!! Hah! We've had the coolest, wettest, cloudiest, crummiest weather here the past year that one would think I'm living back on the "wetside"! NOT! I moved here primarily to get OUT of the the sogginess and INTO the sunshine! Hopefully Mother Nature will get her act together SOON so I can get a bunch of outdoor projects completed this year!!
That's about it from here for now... Hope all is well in YOUR world!

Searching for the right questions to ask
This blog space has been empty for awhile because I've been struggling to find a way to prevent Chase from foreclosing on my property... After 18 months of trying to get them to respond to my request for a modification, several hundred pages of faxed and mailed documents (many sent multiple times to the same as well as different numbers/addresses), I have yet to receive written confirmation that I have been denied! They have informed me over the phone, but refuse to tell me what I need to do to meet their criteria to be considered for a loan modification other than to say that I just need to "have a larger income"?!! So, I have the house and property (all 43+ acres) on the market (since Sept. 2, 2010) if for no other reason than to prove to Chase that there really is NO market here! Not a single interested person has viewed the property or house in over two months... Yet, I search daily for ANY new information or ideas or suggestions gleaned from the Internet or friends or whatever reliable/legitimate source(s) I can find to increase my income in order to qualify for a modification! I've even tried to sell off 20 acres just to pay down the mortgage to a point where I could perhaps qualify for lower monthly payments! I am more than willing to rent or lease out a room or my garage or my travel trailer or the 20 acres or whatever it takes!! So, please, please, PLEASE send your suggestions, etc., if you have any that I haven't already explored! And, of course, make sure that whatever it is you suggest is legal!
Am actually more concerned about the kitties who have made their homes here; there is a small feral colony (about 15 are still alive now) that was relocated to Heart Song in late 2007 along with some kittens who were brought here in hopes they could be tamed and then adopted out. Only 1 of the 7 became tame, so 4 of them were taken back to their original homes after being spay/neutered/vaccinated. Of the 3 remaining in that group, 2 died from Feline Leukemia cancers while the 3rd one, Snowy, tested negative and eventually ended up as one of my indoor kitties (the existing feral colony would not accept him!)... Fortunately, Snowy has become quite a love-bug--- a huge improvement that has taken place over the past 6 months! And, he gets along fine with my other indoor critters.
Meanwhile, I agreed to take on 3 foster kittens in July of this year to prepare them for adoption just as I have done every year since getting involved with The Abandoned Cat Team/aka OKSNIP back in June of 2007. Oh dear, oh dear, what did I get myself into????!!!! The 3 fosters are still here waiting for their "turn" in the line to go over to the coast for adoption---they are sweeties! But, our only shelter here in Okanogan County is overflowing with cats and kittens of all ages with no end in sight nor are people adopting any animals... Instead, there is an increasingly alarming number of cats, dogs and even horses being abandoned here in the county, most of them simply "dumped" along one of our roads... the critters are forced to fend for themselves with only a few of the "lucky" ones finding a safe place to live. The majority are killed by vehicles on the highway, fall prey to coyote, bear, or cougar, or starve to death. I cannot and will NOT allow that to happen to ANY of the kitties at Heart Song! That is my promise no matter what happens in the future...
So, there you have it... I will update this blog as I go along on this bumpy ride... Thanks for caring enough to take the time to read it...
